Trendy DIY Sunglasses Case

Hey guys – it’s Aki again from Minted Strawberry here to share another easy peasy sunglasses case tutorial with you! Summer is well on the way and I imagine I’m not the only one with a pair (or a few) sunglasses in their bag. What bugs me is the fact that either I lose my sunglasses cases or they’re just plain too bulky for me to slip into my tiny little bag. So I end up creating one (or more) cases for my sunnies – and I’m sharing with you how I made this and the template I used so that you can create your very own!

Supplies:

  • Pouch
  • Heat Transfer Vinyl (Black)
  • Heat Transfer Vinyl (Metallic Gold)
  • Iron
  • Silhouette Cameo or other Die-cutting machine
  • Template

Step 1. Create a pouch or purchase a ready-made one. Make sure it doesn’t have creases by ironing it first.

Step 2. Size your template in proportion to the size of your pouch. Cut and weed out the negative parts, leaving only the outline of the sunglasses – it should look exactly like the template.

Step 3. Iron it down using an iron on the highest heat setting without steam, and applying a good amount of pressure. You will know it’s stuck once you see the fabric weave on the heat transfer come through.

Step 4. To create some interest, cut out some metallic gold vinyl for the sunglasses area to create a reflective look. Iron it down like you did in the previous step, peel off the carrier sheet and you are done!

This sunglasses case is so easy to make and you can definitely customize it with your choice of colors – you can even color the frame to your liking! But I kept it simple and without color as I loved the simplicity of just the line art.
